As a cure for insomnia, I was watching some cricket the other week on a satellite channel and got to wondering what aliens would make of it if they too were watching. Would they understand the appeal of leather on willow? Probably not, but that was what inspired this week's Dennis cover story and explains why he is brandishing a cricket bat at the 'starship'!

There was a lot of coughing and spluttering in the office recently and not just at the sight of my new checked trousers! Nope, a lot of us seemed to have developed a cold at the same time and this gave me the idea for the Minnie story, where her teacher had developed a cold. She's a caring girl really and it was nice to see her treating her long-suffering teacher so 'nicely'! Normally, script ideas just flow along from start to finish but this was one where I got the end gag first and worked backwards to complete the story. Hope you all found it as funny as one of my colleagues did - he exploded with laughter! Or maybe he was just sneezing...
